Protect email address from spam bots
If you are having a website you probably have some contact information on it, for example an email address. This email address is exposed for spam bots who scans a lot of websites all the time to find email address to send spam mail to. This guide shows how you protect email address from spam bots if you are having a WordPress site.
Their is a lot of different ways to protect your email address from spam bots, your can for example write it in different ways, like hi(at)datacalle.se for example or you can make a picture with your email address. I have found a good and easy to use plugin for WordPress combining the best solutions from this article. The plugin I found is WP Mailto Links – Manage Email Links.
First you need to find and install the plugin at your WordPress site. When you have activated the plugin your are able to configure it as you like. You found all settings under Settings – WP Mailto Links in your WordPress menu. After you activated the plugin all email addresses on your site will be protected with a specified text, *protected email*.
You are also able to ad some extra small picture after all email addresses if you want as the picture below show
I have chosen to not use the recommended to replace the address with some other text, I am using the choice to convert them to mailto links so you still are able to click on the link and your default mail client will open and draft a new mail to the address. In my case the address looks like this hi@datacalle.com. Maybe this choice is not the best and secure way but I found this useful and enough secure for my usage.
